Goat’s cheese canapés with Seville Orange & Bergamot Marmalade, Sriracha and fresh thyme

We always love seeing where our preserves end up, particularly when someone takes a jar in a direction we might not have thought of ourselves.

Cheese writer and author
Patrick McGuigan
created these brilliantly simple canapés using our
Seville Orange & Bergamot Marmalade,
pairing it with goat’s cheese, Sriracha and fresh thyme.

It’s a rather clever combination. The creamy, slightly tangy cheese softens the bittersweet citrus, while the fragrant bergamot works beautifully with thyme. A little Sriracha brings heat and stops everything becoming too polite.

SIMPLE CANAPÉ IDEA

Goat’s Cheese, Marmalade & Sriracha Canapés

Crisp pastry, creamy cheese, bittersweet citrus and a little chilli heat.

You’ll need

Small ready-made pastry canapé cases

The Artisan Kitchen Seville Orange & Bergamot Marmalade

Soft goat’s cheese

Sriracha hot sauce

Fresh thyme

To make

Spoon a small amount of Seville Orange & Bergamot Marmalade into the base of each pastry case.

Add a few small pieces of soft goat’s cheese, followed by a little Sriracha.

Finish with fresh thyme leaves and serve. That’s really all there is to it: crisp pastry, creamy cheese, bittersweet citrus, chilli heat and fresh herbs in one bite.

A little marmalade goes a surprisingly long way beyond breakfast.

Why marmalade works so well with cheese

Marmalade can be particularly good with cheese because its combination of fruit, acidity and gentle bitterness cuts through richness in much the same way as a chutney.

Our Seville Orange & Bergamot Marmalade combines the characteristic bittersweet flavour of Seville oranges with the distinctive fragrant lift of bergamot. Alongside a fresh, creamy goat’s cheese, those citrus notes really come alive.

Add chilli and thyme and you have a very simple little canapé that manages to be creamy, fruity, bitter, hot and aromatic all at once.
