Description
Seville Orange & Bergamot Marmalade
An exceptionally high-fruit marmalade combining organic Seville oranges with Calabrian bergamots for classic bitterness, vivid citrus depth and an elegant perfumed finish.
Quick answer: Seville Orange & Bergamot Marmalade is a limited-edition preserve made with organic Seville oranges and fragrant Calabrian bergamots. The Sevilles bring traditional marmalade bitterness and structure, while the bergamot adds floral citrus aroma, delicate zest and a long, refined finish.
This is a marmalade for anyone who loves bright, aromatic citrus with real character.
Organic Seville oranges provide the confident bitterness, fragrant peel and depth expected from a proper traditional marmalade. Calabrian bergamots bring a distinctive floral citrus note, often associated with the aroma of Earl Grey tea.
Handmade in small seasonal batches in our Gloucestershire kitchen, the finished marmalade is lively, balanced and beautifully clear in flavour. The bergamot remains elegant and aromatic without overpowering the Sevilles.
Choose this marmalade if you enjoy traditional Seville bitterness lifted by floral citrus, fragrant peel and the distinctive perfume of Calabrian bergamot.

What Is Bergamot?
Bergamot is a highly fragrant citrus fruit closely associated with Calabria in southern Italy. It is best known as the citrus used to give Earl Grey tea its distinctive aroma.
Its flavour combines elements of orange, lemon, aromatic peel and citrus blossom. The fruit has an immediately recognisable fragrance, but also brings freshness, acidity and a clean zest character.
In marmalade, bergamot becomes more expressive. Its floral notes unfold through the preserve while its natural sharpness complements the stronger bitterness of Seville orange.
Why Seville Orange and Bergamot Work Together
Seville oranges give this marmalade its traditional backbone. Their aromatic peel, natural acidity and bitterness create structure and a long-lasting citrus flavour.
Bergamot lifts the deeper Seville notes with fragrance and a lighter floral quality. It brings complexity without removing the confident bitterness that makes Seville marmalade so satisfying.
Together, the two fruits create a preserve that feels familiar at first, then gradually reveals a more unusual, aromatic finish.
How We Make It
We make this marmalade in small batches using carefully selected organic Seville oranges and seasonal bergamots from Calabria.
The proportion of each fruit is carefully judged so the bergamot remains clearly present without overpowering the Seville orange.
Each batch is cooked with close attention to peel, aroma and set, creating a marmalade with exceptional fruit content and a bright, balanced flavour.
How to Enjoy It
- Spread generously on hot buttered toast, crumpets or sourdough
- Serve with croissants, brioche or panettone
- Spoon through thick Greek yoghurt, porridge or overnight oats
- Pair with Brie, mascarpone, ricotta or fresh goat’s cheese
- Use as a glaze for citrus cakes, loaf cakes or fruit tarts
- Add to cocktails for a fragrant bitter-citrus note
Chef-crafted, small batch, preserving excellence.
Sarah’s Maker’s Note
Bergamot has an extraordinary fragrance, but it needs careful handling. I want its floral character to lift the Seville orange rather than dominate it. The finished marmalade should still have proper bitterness and structure, followed by that unmistakable aromatic bergamot finish.
A Limited Seasonal Preserve
Both Seville oranges and Calabrian bergamots have relatively short natural seasons. The marmalade can therefore be made only when suitable fruit is available at the same time.
Production is deliberately small and closely tied to fruit quality. Once a seasonal batch has sold out, the marmalade may not return until the following citrus season.
This limited availability is part of what makes the preserve so special. It captures two distinctive winter citrus fruits at their most aromatic.
Simple Serving Ideas
- Layer with mascarpone in a citrus sponge cake
- Brush over an almond or lemon loaf while still warm
- Spoon over panna cotta or vanilla ice cream
- Serve with fresh goat’s cheese and crisp crackers
- Shake with gin and lemon for a fragrant marmalade cocktail

Robert Clifford-Wing –
The previous reviewer said it all. Full of fruit and rich flavours capped or rather complemented by the classic ingredient of Earl Grey tea Bergamot. It introduces a characteristic which perfects breakfast toast and butter.
I can’t wait to try the other GT 3 star Seville marmalades in our store cupboard as I couldn’t resist buying them all!
Pratap Chahal –
This is an incredibly delicious and perfectly balanced marmamalde that has complexity, bitterness and perfume with each bite. There’s a reason why Artisan Kitchen is one of the most-awarded jams and marmalades and that reason is in every jar you taste.
