Description

Blackberry Jam

A deep, richly fruited jam made with more than 40 ripe blackberries in every jar for bold berry flavour and a beautifully balanced sweet-sharp finish.

Quick answer: Blackberry Jam is a dark, fruit-rich preserve made with ripe blackberries, sugar and lemon juice. Each 200 g jar contains more than 40 blackberries, giving it deep berry flavour, natural sweetness and a gentle tartness that keeps the finish fresh.

Our Blackberry Jam is made with ripe blackberries selected for their deep colour, bold flavour and natural balance of sweetness and acidity.

More than 40 blackberries go into every 200 g jar, creating a generous preserve with real depth and unmistakable late-summer character.

Handmade in small batches in our Gloucestershire kitchen, it is carefully cooked to preserve the fruit’s richness while keeping the finish lively and clean.

Choose this jam if you enjoy dark berry depth, generous fruit content and a naturally sweet-sharp finish.

Finish: Clean, vivid and lightly tart

Why Blackberries Make Such a Satisfying Jam

Blackberries naturally combine dark berry richness with refreshing acidity. That balance gives the jam greater depth than many softer summer-fruit preserves.

Their deep colour and bold aroma also create a preserve with real presence, whether it is spread on toast or used in a cake or dessert.

Careful small-batch cooking allows that character to remain clear, producing a jam that tastes unmistakably of blackberry rather than simply of sweetness.

Blackberry Jam is a lovely partner for Camembert, particularly when the cheese is baked and served with warm bread. Explore our complete
jam and cheese pairing guide.

How to Enjoy It

  • Spread on buttered toast, crumpets, croissants or sourdough
  • Serve with warm scones and clotted cream
  • Swirl through Greek yoghurt, porridge or rice pudding
  • Use in sponge cakes, jam tarts or thumbprint biscuits
  • Spoon over cheesecake, panna cotta or vanilla ice cream
  • Pair with Brie, Camembert, goat’s cheese or a gentle blue cheese

Chef-crafted, small batch, preserving excellence.

Sarah’s Maker’s Note

Blackberries have a wonderfully dark and comforting flavour, but they also carry enough natural acidity to stay bright. I cook this jam carefully so it keeps that balance, with plenty of fruit depth and a clean finish rather than excessive sweetness.

Simple Serving Ideas

  • Layer with yoghurt and granola for a quick breakfast
  • Ripple through whipped cream for an easy blackberry fool
  • Use as a filling for chocolate sponge or sandwich biscuits
  • Warm gently and spoon over pancakes or waffles
  • Serve with vanilla ice cream and toasted hazelnuts

  1. Lesley Large –

This Blackberry jam is so delicious and it’s all for me.
On my croissants and toast – wonderful!
    Thank you Sarah

  2. Margaret –

Absolute delight. Blackberry jam all by itself. Blackberries are usually mixed with other stronger fruits and their lovely flavour is lost. This jam is packed with whole berries – just like my Mother made when we went out picking them. (Actually, this is better!) This may well be my new favourite jam.

  3. Margao –

Itis difficult to find Blackberry jam without it being with something else eg apple. i dio enjoy the taste of the berries alone

  4. emmanuelle –

Excellent all round. Full of flavour packed with fruits. Whole blackberries in there too. Beautiful on toast or in yogurt or porridge. Or straight out of the jar !!! Brings back childhood memories.

  5. Dr Rob Byrne –

I made a request for blackberry jam earlier this year and was frankly astounded by your very thoughtful, personal and friendly response. We enjoyed the blackberry jam immensely and can only echo the thoughts of another contributor and those special childhood memories. Thanks again to you and your team at Artisan Kitchen , Sarah.

  6. Stephen Crawshaw –

Very tasty. The flavour of the berries really shone through

  7. Maryline Scanlon –

Bought for my husband. He absolutely loves it and says it reminds him of the blackberry jam of his childhood, delicious and packed with fruit. I have tried several of Sarah’s jams and they are the best!

  8. tosca30 –

Soooo tasty! Just close my eyes and believe I am out in the countryside picking the berries straight from the bush 🙂

  9. David –
