Description

Espresso Martini Marmalade

A bold, bittersweet marmalade combining sweet and Seville oranges with Arabica coffee, vodka and coffee liqueur.

Quick answer: Espresso Martini Marmalade is a citrus-and-coffee preserve inspired by the classic cocktail. Sweet and Seville oranges provide brightness, peel and gentle bitterness, while Arabica coffee, vodka and coffee liqueur add roasted depth and a smooth, lingering finish.

Our Espresso Martini Marmalade brings together two flavours that are rarely found in the same preserve: vivid orange and aromatic roasted coffee.

Sweet oranges provide juicy citrus character, while Seville oranges add the bitterness, fragrant peel and structure expected from a proper marmalade.

Arabica coffee adds deep roasted notes, and a carefully judged combination of vodka and coffee liqueur gives the marmalade warmth and a smooth cocktail-inspired finish.

Choose this marmalade if you enjoy bitter orange, proper coffee flavour and rich, grown-up preserves with a little cocktail character.

Tasting Notes

Flavour: Bright orange followed by aromatic roasted coffee

Sweetness: Rich and rounded, balanced by Seville bitterness

Coffee: Deep Arabica character without overpowering the fruit

Texture: Glossy with fine citrus peel

Finish: Smooth, warming and gently reminiscent of espresso liqueur

Why Orange and Coffee Work Together

Orange and coffee share a natural aromatic richness. Fresh citrus lifts the darker roasted flavours, while coffee adds depth to the sweetness and perfume of the fruit.

Sweet oranges bring roundness and juicy flavour. Seville oranges provide the sharper peel notes and bitterness needed to keep the marmalade balanced.

The Arabica coffee sits beneath the citrus rather than covering it, creating a preserve that begins with orange and finishes with smooth espresso warmth.

Inspired by the Espresso Martini

The classic Espresso Martini combines coffee, vodka and coffee liqueur. This marmalade uses the same flavour idea while keeping citrus at the centre.

Vodka adds clean spirit warmth, while the coffee liqueur deepens the roasted character and provides a soft, rounded finish.

The result is not simply a cocktail flavour in a jar. It is a proper orange marmalade with layers of coffee and liqueur running through it.

How We Make It

We begin with sweet and Seville oranges, preparing the fruit carefully so the peel softens while retaining its aromatic citrus character.

Arabica coffee is then added in a carefully balanced amount. Too little would disappear into the orange, while too much would overwhelm the fruit and create unnecessary bitterness.

Vodka and coffee liqueur complete the marmalade, adding warmth and depth while leaving the citrus flavour clearly defined.

How to Enjoy It

  • Spread on toasted brioche, croissants or buttered sourdough
  • Spoon over pancakes, waffles or French toast
  • Serve with thick yoghurt, granola or porridge
  • Pair with dark chocolate cake, brownies or tiramisu
  • Use as a glaze for coffee, chocolate or orange cakes
  • Add to cocktails or sparkling drinks for a citrus-coffee twist

Chef-crafted, small batch, preserving excellence.

Sarah’s Maker’s Note

The coffee needs to be clearly recognisable without flattening the oranges. I balance sweet and Seville fruit with Arabica coffee, then use the vodka and coffee liqueur to create warmth and length. The finished marmalade should taste of orange first, followed by a proper roasted-coffee finish.

Made for Rich Cakes and Desserts

Espresso Martini Marmalade is particularly good in recipes where orange, coffee and chocolate already feel at home.

  • Layer into a chocolate or coffee sponge cake
  • Swirl through brownie or blondie batter
  • Brush over an orange loaf cake while still warm
  • Spoon over tiramisu, panna cotta or vanilla ice cream
  • Use in chocolate tartlets or sandwich biscuits

Chef’s Serving Ideas

  • Warm gently and pour over vanilla ice cream
  • Layer with mascarpone and crushed amaretti biscuits
  • Use between layers of chocolate cake with coffee buttercream
  • Stir a small spoonful into hot chocolate
  • Shake with vodka and espresso for a marmalade-inspired cocktail

Great Taste Awards Judges’ Comments

“An attractive cut to this almost chestnut-coloured marmalade. With its warm, autumnal, light coffee, boozy aroma, this product is certainly enticing. The peel has been well cooked and the set, in our view, is perfect. The flavours all marry well, taking us on a real journey of discovery. This little jar contains everything in perfect balance — a pudding marmalade for grown-ups.”
