Description
Greengage Jam
A rare, limited-edition jam made with organically grown Cambridge gages from a traditional Gloucestershire orchard, with honeyed sweetness, soft floral notes and a beautifully clean finish.
Quick answer:
Greengage Jam is a mellow, delicately floral stone-fruit preserve with honeyed sweetness and gentle natural acidity. Our limited seasonal edition is handmade with organically grown Cambridge gages from a historic Gloucestershire orchard.
Our Greengage Jam is handmade in small batches using Cambridge gages grown organically in a traditional orchard in Gloucestershire.
Greengages have a softer and more delicate flavour than many darker plums. Their natural sweetness is honeyed rather than heavy, with gentle floral notes and a fresh stone-fruit finish.
Because the harvest is seasonal and available only in limited quantities, this is a small-batch preserve that returns when the fruit is ready.
Choose this jam if you enjoy gentle orchard-fruit flavour, mellow sweetness and an elegant preserve that allows the fruit to speak for itself.

What Are Cambridge Gages?
The Cambridge Gage is a traditional greengage variety first recorded in Cambridgeshire in the early twentieth century.
Closely related to the Old Greengage, it shares the same characteristic honeyed sweetness, soft perfume and delicate stone-fruit flavour.
These qualities make it particularly suited to jam. The flavour remains elegant and nuanced, with a gentler profile than many darker plum preserves.
Grown in a Gloucestershire Orchard
The gages grow in a traditional 12-acre orchard in Gloucestershire, surrounded by grassland, hedgerows, scrub, streams and a lake.
Standing and fallen deadwood provide habitat for insects, birds and other wildlife, while the mixture of fruit trees and natural spaces creates a richly biodiverse environment.
That connection between variety, season and place gives this preserve a character that cannot be replicated with anonymous fruit grown purely for uniformity. It is part of a much wider tradition of
rare and heritage Gloucestershire plums and gages
that continue to survive through traditional orchards, growers and preserving.

Sarah’s Maker’s Note
Greengages have a subtle flavour, so they need a careful hand. I want the finished jam to retain their honeyed sweetness, light perfume and gentle acidity rather than turning them into an ordinary sweet plum preserve.
Why Greengage Jam Is Different
Greengage Jam has a quiet confidence. It is not as bold or sharp as damson jam, nor as dark and rich as many red-plum preserves.
Instead, it offers a softer combination of sweetness, fragrance and gentle acidity. That restraint makes it especially good with creamy cheeses, buttery pastries and simple desserts where its flavour can remain clear.

Tried this one “blind” so to speak having never tasted Greengage before. Sweet taste with a very subtle tang. Would certainly buy it again next season. High standards maintained again.
