Description

Honey Lemon Marmalade

A two-star Great Taste Award-winning marmalade made with zesty lemons and pure honey for bright citrus flavour and a smooth, gently honeyed finish.

Quick answer: Honey Lemon Marmalade is a bright, balanced citrus preserve made with lemons, sugar, water and pure honey. The lemon brings freshness, fragrant peel and gentle sharpness, while the honey adds warmth and a soft golden finish without overwhelming the fruit.

Our Honey Lemon Marmalade is made for anyone who enjoys clear lemon flavour with a softer, more rounded finish.

The lemons bring clean citrus brightness, fragrant peel and natural sharpness. Pure honey then adds mellow sweetness and warmth, smoothing the finish while allowing the lemon to remain vivid.

Handmade in small batches in our Gloucestershire kitchen, the finished marmalade is glossy, citrus-led and beautifully easy to enjoy.

Sweetness: Gentle, rounded and carefully balanced

Sharpness: Fresh and lively without becoming harsh

Texture: Glossy with tender citrus peel

Finish: Smooth, golden and softly honeyed

Why Lemon and Honey Work Together

Lemon brings acidity, fragrance and clean citrus flavour. Honey brings warmth and gentle sweetness.

Used together, the honey softens the sharper edge of the lemon without hiding its freshness. The marmalade remains lively and citrus-led, but the finish is smoother and more comforting than a traditional sharp lemon preserve.

The combination also works beautifully beyond breakfast, particularly with soft cheese, cakes, yoghurt and savoury glazes.

How We Make It

We prepare the lemons carefully so the peel softens while retaining its fresh aroma and natural citrus character.

The honey is added in a carefully judged quantity. It should round out the flavour and add warmth without making the marmalade taste heavy or overly sweet.

Each batch is made by hand, creating a glossy marmalade with clear lemon flavour, tender peel and a gentle honeyed finish.

How to Enjoy It

  • Spread on warm toast, crumpets, croissants or brioche
  • Spoon over thick Greek yoghurt, porridge or pancakes
  • Serve with ricotta, goat’s cheese, Brie or cream cheese
  • Use as a glaze for lemon cakes, loaf cakes or fruit tarts
  • Spoon over vanilla ice cream or cheesecake
  • Brush over roast chicken, ham or root vegetables

Chef-crafted, small batch, preserving excellence.

Sarah’s Maker’s Note

The honey should never overpower the lemons. I use it to soften the finish and add warmth, while keeping the citrus bright, fragrant and clearly defined. The result should feel golden and comforting, but still unmistakably lemon-led.

Made for Breakfast, Baking and Cheese

  • Layer into a lemon sponge with mascarpone or buttercream
  • Brush over a lemon drizzle cake while still warm
  • Swirl through cheesecake or yoghurt loaf batter
  • Serve with ricotta on toasted sourdough
  • Pair with soft cheese, nuts and fresh bread

Chef’s Serving Ideas

  • Stir through Greek yoghurt with toasted granola
  • Loosen with a little hot water and drizzle over pancakes
  • Mix with mustard and olive oil for a chicken or ham glaze
  • Warm gently and spoon over vanilla ice cream
  • Stir into warm water with fresh lemon for a honeyed citrus drink

Great Taste Awards Judges’ Comments

“The most astonishing vibrancy hits your tastebuds immediately — like the best sherbet lemon, zesty and full of sharp citrus. The flavour is wonderfully balanced with a sweetness that fortunately takes second place to the lemon. The lemons in this marmalade jump out at you and shout their presence. Sensational flavour. The freshness and accuracy of the lemon flavour are astonishing — mouth-watering and mouth-tingling.”

I sent this to my Aunt for her Birthday and she was delighted. She said it was delicious. She is in her eighties and I know she likes things to eat. I have sent jams before and they were also excellent value for money

  4. Tricia Daniels –

On first sight, I had to wonder if it was going to be a bit too like having a cough and mixing up the honey and lemon. Then I realised that’s actually quite a good flavour, so gave it a go. This is really rather special. One of those items that you want to put on the breakfast table when you have friends and family staying – and then gloat at your discovery!

  5. Emma chandler –

I was surprised to see marmalade and honey paired together but had to try, as a marmalade and honey fan and it did not disappoint. Definitely delicious on my morning porridge or a slice of sourdough toast. A truly delicious taste sensation.

  6. Jane –

This was the first marmalade I bought as a present for my dad and I have to say it his absolute favourite. He loves honey and just loves the flavours and the texture. Always goes down a treat! So definitely one for the honey lover.
