Description
Mirabelle Plum Jam
The golden plum jam that began The Artisan Kitchen, made with wild Gloucester Mirabelles for bright fruit flavour, gentle honeyed notes and a naturally fresh finish.
Quick answer: Mirabelle Plum Jam is a handmade seasonal preserve made with wild Gloucester Mirabelle plums and sugar. It is lighter and more delicate than many darker plum jams, with golden fruit flavour, soft honeyed notes and a lively finish. It was also the very first preserve created by The Artisan Kitchen.
Our Mirabelle Plum Jam is where the story of The Artisan Kitchen began.
In 2011, a Mirabelle plum tree in a Gloucestershire garden produced more golden fruit than could possibly be ignored. That first small batch of jam sparked the preserving journey that followed.
Today, the jam is still made with wild Gloucester Mirabelle plums, carefully cooked in small copper pans to preserve their colour, fragrance and naturally bright fruit character.
Choose this jam if you enjoy delicate stone-fruit preserves with gentle sweetness, floral notes and a fresh golden-plum finish.

What Are Mirabelle Plums?
Mirabelles are small golden plums known for their fragrant flavour, soft sweetness and delicate floral character.
They are strongly associated with the Lorraine region of France, but in Britain they are much harder to find. They tend to appear in private gardens, old orchards and small pockets of seasonal fruit.
In jam, Mirabelles create a very different character from darker plum varieties. The flavour is lighter, more aromatic and gently honeyed, with a fresh finish that keeps the preserve lively.
The Jam That Began The Artisan Kitchen
Mirabelle Plum Jam has a special place in our kitchen because it was the first preserve Sarah made when The Artisan Kitchen began.
A single Gloucestershire tree produced fruit too beautiful to waste, and that first tiny batch became the beginning of everything that followed.
The same principle still guides every batch today: respect the fruit, preserve the season and allow flavour to lead.
How to Enjoy It
- Spread on warm sourdough, brioche or buttery croissants
- Swirl through Greek yoghurt, porridge or rice pudding
- Spoon over pancakes, waffles or vanilla ice cream
- Pair with Brie, ricotta, mascarpone or soft goat’s cheese
- Use as a glaze for fruit tarts, galettes and pastries
- Layer into sponge cakes, jam tarts or thumbprint biscuits
- Stir a spoonful into chilled sparkling wine for a seasonal twist
Chef-crafted, small batch, preserving excellence.
Sarah’s Maker’s Note
Mirabelles are delicate fruit, so the challenge is to keep their fragrance and golden-plum freshness during cooking. I look for a soft set, clear fruit flavour and enough natural acidity to stop the finished jam from feeling heavy.
