Description
Toffee Apple Jam
A rich, comforting jam made with British Bramley apples, homemade toffee sauce and a gentle touch of cinnamon.
Quick answer: Toffee Apple Jam combines sharp Bramley apples with buttery homemade toffee sauce and warming cinnamon. It has a thick, generous texture and a balanced flavour that is fruity, caramel-rich and gently spiced. It is especially good in cakes, pastries and warm puddings.
Our Toffee Apple Jam is a comforting combination of British Bramley apples, smooth homemade toffee sauce and a restrained touch of cinnamon.
Bramley apples bring the fresh acidity and clear fruit flavour needed to balance the richness of the toffee. Their natural sharpness prevents the finished jam from becoming overly sweet.
We make the toffee sauce ourselves using sugar, butter and cream, cooking it until golden before combining it with the apples. Cinnamon adds gentle warmth without overpowering the fruit or caramel.
Choose this jam if you enjoy sharp Bramley apple, buttery caramel and the comforting flavour of baked autumn desserts.

Why Bramley Apple and Toffee Work Together
Bramley apples are naturally sharp and full of classic cooking-apple flavour. When cooked, they soften beautifully while retaining enough acidity to give the finished preserve freshness.
The homemade toffee sauce adds buttery sweetness and a smooth caramel note. Rather than masking the fruit, it provides a rich contrast to the apples’ natural tartness.
A little cinnamon completes the flavour, giving the jam the comforting warmth of baked apples, sticky puddings and autumn pastries.
How We Make It
We begin by preparing the Bramley apples and cooking them carefully until soft, allowing their clear, fresh flavour to remain at the centre of the recipe.
The toffee sauce is made separately with sugar, butter and cream, then cooked until smooth and golden. It is folded through the apple in carefully judged quantities so the preserve remains fruity rather than becoming simply sweet.
Each batch is made by hand in our Gloucestershire kitchen, producing a thick jam with layers of apple, caramel and gentle spice.
How to Enjoy It
- Spread on toast, croissants, crumpets or brioche
- Spoon over pancakes, waffles or warm crêpes
- Swirl through porridge, rice pudding or natural yoghurt
- Use as a filling for cakes, pastries, tarts or sticky buns
- Warm gently and spoon over vanilla ice cream
- Serve with warm scones and clotted cream
Chef-crafted, small batch, preserving excellence.
Sarah’s Maker’s Note
The Bramley apple is essential here because its natural sharpness can stand up to the richness of the toffee. I make the sauce separately, then add just enough to create a deep caramel flavour while keeping the finished jam unmistakably apple-led.
Made for Cakes and Baking
The thick texture of this jam makes it particularly useful for baking. It holds well between cake layers, sits neatly inside pastries and brings both fruit and caramel flavour without creating a thin or watery filling.
- Fill an apple sponge or cinnamon layer cake
- Spoon into puff-pastry turnovers or Danish pastries
- Swirl through blondie or traybake batter
- Use in thumbprint biscuits or jam tarts
- Ripple through cheesecake before baking or chilling
Chef’s Serving Ideas
- Brush over pastries before baking for a glossy caramelised finish
- Stir into warm apple juice for a non-alcoholic autumn drink
- Add a spoonful to hot cider for a toffee-apple twist
- Combine with mustard for a sweet glaze for roast ham or pork
