In 2017, chef Sarah Churchill and The Artisan Kitchen were featured on BBC Two’s Nadiya’s British Food Adventure, a series celebrating the farmers, growers, makers and food producers shaping Britain’s culinary landscape.
For the West Country episode, Nadiya Hussain travelled through the region exploring two favourite ingredients: jam and garlic. Her search for exceptional preserves brought her to Gloucestershire and into the world of The Artisan Kitchen.

A Shared Love of Great Ingredients
At The Artisan Kitchen, every preserve begins with the same principle that guided Sarah’s career in professional kitchens: exceptional ingredients deserve exceptional care.
Long before founding The Artisan Kitchen, Sarah trained and worked in some of Britain’s most respected kitchens, including the two Michelin-starred Square restaurant in Mayfair. That chef-led approach remains at the heart of every jar today.
Rather than producing preserves on an industrial scale, Sarah continues to work in small batches, allowing each fruit variety to express its own character, texture and flavour.

Bringing Artisan Preserves to a National Audience
Television appearances are always special, but this one felt particularly meaningful. Nadiya’s British Food Adventure was created to celebrate real British food stories and the people keeping traditional skills alive.
Being chosen to represent artisan preserving in the West Country was a proud moment for The Artisan Kitchen and a wonderful opportunity to share the craft of jam and marmalade making with a national audience.

From a Gloucestershire Kitchen to BBC Two
What began with a local Mirabelle plum tree and a passion for seasonal fruit has grown into one of Britain’s most awarded artisan preserve producers.
Today, The Artisan Kitchen has received more than 188 Great Taste Awards, including 49 coveted three-star awards, yet the philosophy remains unchanged.
Exceptional fruit.
Traditional methods.
Chef-led craftsmanship.
The Story Continues
Television appearances come and go, but the passion behind the preserves remains exactly the same.
Every jar is still made with the same care, attention to detail and respect for ingredients that first caught the attention of television producers all those years ago.
Whether discovered through BBC Two, James Martin’s Saturday Morning, or simply through a recommendation from a fellow food lover, every customer becomes part of the story.
