4. Finish
Finish with sprinkles or crushed freeze-dried berries for colour and texture, then serve straight away.
Sarah’s Kitchen Note
Keep the milk and ice cream properly cold before blending. I like to blend the jam into the milkshake for flavour, then add a little more at the end so you still get visible ribbons of fruit through the glass rather than losing everything into one completely smooth mixture.
Why Use Jam in a Milkshake?
Jam is an easy way to bring concentrated fruit flavour into a milkshake without adding lots of fresh fruit, which can change the texture of the finished drink.
Here, Tutti Frutti Jam brings both sweetness and fruit flavour to the vanilla base, while an extra spoonful swirled through the finished milkshake gives those lovely little ribbons of jam.
Variations
Breakfast style: Replace the ice cream with thick Greek yoghurt and add two tablespoons of oats.
Dairy free: Use a creamy plant milk and dairy-free ice cream.
Adults only: Add a splash of Chambord for a playful dessert shake.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can you put jam in a milkshake?
Yes. Jam blends easily with milk and ice cream and is a simple way to add concentrated fruit flavour. You can also swirl a little extra jam through the finished milkshake.
How do I make a thicker milkshake?
For a thicker milkshake, use very cold ingredients and add a little more vanilla ice cream. Blend only until smooth so the mixture stays cold and thick.
Can I make this milkshake without dairy?
Yes. Replace the whole milk with a creamy plant-based milk and use your preferred dairy-free vanilla ice cream.
